Two Wyoming researchers studying the divergent paths taken by two elk herds that share a winter range near Cody made that point perfectly clear in Hamilton this week. The researchers were members of a team that recently completed a 3 1/2-year study intended to learn why the portion of the elk herd that annually migrated into Yellowstone National Park's Lamar Valley fared much worse than the elk that stayed behind.
